Our Journey

Morakot traces its rich history back to 2006 when operations were first set up in the coastal province of Kampot, in the south of Cambodia. Kampot is equally renowned and celebrated both for its unique Kampot pepper, and the perseverance and hardworking nature of its people.

Through 15 years of operating, Morakot is proud to have made a strong impact on providing financial inclusion to the rural income populations of the province.

MORAKOT is a financial institution that provides financial inclusion services to low-income populations in urban and rural of Southeast Asia, with the aims to creating an inclusive world by improving social and economic developments that empower individuals to live with dignity and liberty.

Since its inception, Morakot Finance has played an important role in poverty alleviation amongst poor women and low-income populations through providing efficient, effective, innovative, and sustainable financial services that result in wealth and value creation for all of its stakeholders.

In 2019, Morakot welcomed a team of international shareholders from Europe and Asia, all aimed at pursuing the ultimate goal of poverty alleviation throughout Cambodia and the world. The development of Morakot and its new shareholding structure, with the introduction of new international shareholders, has led Morakot to reinforce its governance.

The Board of Directors provides guidance and direction to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in designing the company strategy, approving the financial situation and the business plans of the company.

The directors are high-caliber, international-level professionals with extensive expertise in the industry as well as in operations, investment and project management disciplines. The Board of Directors has five members and has nominated the company founder as Chairman of the Board. A Credit and Audit Committee will be established. Members can be the members of the Board of Directors.
